Setlogane’s journey into Corporate Social Investment (CSI) is rooted in a desire to champion meaningful broader societal transformation and ensuring that it is sustained. A qualified social worker with an Honours degree in Social Policy and Management from the University of Cape Town (UCT), awarded with distinction, and a Master of Commerce (MCom) in Business Management from the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Setlogane has always been driven by both academic rigor and real-world impact. His postgraduate research explored what it truly takes to implement effective CSI in South Africa - an interest that has shaped his approach to this much needed business contribution to society. After gaining valuable experience as an analyst and management consultant at Accenture, Setlogane joined Investec in 2003 as a CSI consultant. Just two years later, he was entrusted with leading the CSI division – where he has helped shape one of the most respected CSI practices in the country. In his tenure at Investec, he has served in numerous internal leadership structures and forums, making a wider contribution to business over and above leading the firm’s social investment efforts. Under his leadership, Investec CSI has received numerous awards, but for Setlogane, the real measure of success lies beyond recognition – it is in the lives impacted and the sustainability of the initiatives supported. Known for his thoughtful and strategic approach to social development, as well as his genuine desire to see lasting change, he has become a respected voice in the corporate social investment space. As an author, Setlogane brings his experience to life in his book, Corporate Social Investment: A Guide to Creating a Meaningful Legacy. In it, he shares not just frameworks, but insights shaped by years of practice - emphasizing that impactful CSI is never accidental, but the result of intentional, well-crafted strategy.
