David Gibbons is the Country President for the African Cluster at AstraZeneca, where he leads the company’s operations across 39 countries. With more than 20 years of experience across the pharmaceutical sector, finance, private equity, manufacturing, and distribution, he brings extensive expertise in leading growth, transformation, and complex regional businesses. Prior to joining AstraZeneca, joining AstraZeneca, David held senior leadership roles in the pharmaceutical industry, including at Roche Pharmaceuticals Southern Africa, where he was responsible for a multi-country business and a broad portfolio transformation agenda. During this time, he oversaw multiple oncology launches and helped drive expansion into new therapeutic areas including neurology, ophthalmology, and rare diseases. His leadership is grounded in a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape and a commitment to improving access to innovative care.
