Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for People and Places. Labour Relations Director
After graduating with a degree in business administration, Ilka Horstmeier joined the BMW Group in 1995 as a trainee and section manager in Human Resources and Organisational Development. She then moved into production, where she held a range of management roles. In 2013 she took over as head of Production and Planning, Engines and E-drives, followed in 2018 as managing director of BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.
In 2019, she was appointed Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, where she is now in charge of People and Places. With this role, she is responsible for almost 155,000 employees, every real estate, and all construction projects of the BMW Group on five continents. During her career, she has headed up numerous transformation projects. Therefore, Ilka knows that “when it comes to the transformation, it’s our employees that make the difference”. But responsibility goes far beyond the boundaries of the BMW Group. Ilka firmly believes that: “As a member of society we as a company bear a unique responsibility for strengthening social cohesion. So, we work on solutions to combine economic success with sustainability and social responsibility.”
Megan is focused on expanding UNICEF’s private sector partnerships in the global South, broadening engagement in innovative financing, and ensuring excellence in communications for partnership. She has worked in international cooperation for 20 years in some of the most complex situations in the world including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Kosovo and South Sudan. She is known as someone that can navigate politically and operationally complex partnerships and build, motivate and support diverse global teams. She has previously served as Deputy Director of Public Partnerships, Deputy Chief of Staff and UNICEF’s Regional Humanitarian Advisor for Eastern and Southern Africa.
