Linking Climate Change to Sustainable Development Cooperation
Protecting the climate is without a doubt one the most pressing tasks of our time, yet other development matters are often overlooked, although they pose challenges in all parts of the world. They can influence health, education, gender equality, biodiversity, peace – to name only a few dimensions. In return, fostering sustainable development in these areas can bring opportunities for halting and reversing the climate crisis. All parts of society and around the globe must play their part in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – individuals, businesses, civil society, academia, governments. Each with their own ways of contributing. In the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), these actors come together to work on that and so we will discuss in this workshop the interconnected nature of sustainable development in relation to climate change and how different actors can work collaboratively to strengthen these links.
