Lived Experience in High-Level Decision Making
This workshop will give attendees an opportunity to simulate policy-making in a multilateral setting, creating a simulation challenge that focuses on SDGs 10, 16, and 17. Within multilateral settings, different stakeholders prioritize divergent issues and maintain their own rules for engagement. In a world currently facing a number of polycrises, all stakeholder groups need to identify ways to work together to solve many interrelated issues at once. The challenge will specifically address forced displacement, where each group will need to solve the same policy problem, which will have both human and environmental costs, and strategize on what they are able to do to alleviate the situation. The groups will then be brought back together to discuss, identify points of convergence, and illuminate the value of a multistakeholder approach to create harmonious and applicable solutions, ultimately demonstrating the pieces of the picture they are missing by not engaging other stakeholder groups.
