Local Action, Global Impact: Designing Community-Based Advocacy for Global Change

  • 18:00 - 19:00, 19 September

This workshop will leverage the proven model of Canada’s Fair Trade Programs to design and implement community-based advocacy projects that drive global change. Fair Trade Programs have reached over 3 million Canadians through 394 designations, including towns, campuses, and schools across Canada. They demonstrate how practical applications and concrete actions can drive effective advocacy at the community level. By drawing on these principles, participants will learn how to develop and execute impactful advocacy initiatives tailored to their local communities.            Through a blend of presentations, interactive activities, and group discussions, attendees will gain a deep understanding of practical actions that community leaders can implement to progress on their advocacy efforts and explore how fair trade principles can be integrated into their work. The workshop will cover essential topics such as project planning, resource identification, community engagement, and sustainability strategies. Participants will leave equipped with practical tools and actionable plans to initiate and sustain advocacy projects that promote fairness, sustainability, and positive global impact.
