Big projects often involve large contractors, not focusing on smaller local and Indigenous businesses due to size, competitive processes, and resource constraints. However, the narrative is shifting. Project proponents are now adopting strategies to level the playing field, ensuring that local and Indigenous businesses can participate meaningfully and thrive in major projects, fostering inclusivity and economic empowerment. During this workshop, attendees will learn how they can involve Indigenous and local businesses throughout their project activities, including relevant case studies to facilitate applied learning.
