Tracing the Case for Blue Public Space with Eau daCité and Beyond
Blue public space is a spatial planning innovation and brainchild of the founder of Eau daCité. Inspired by the unique context of Tiohtià:ke (Montréal), the world's second most populous river island, blue public space provides a framework for prioritising water in planning and design. Blue public space addresses the paradox that although water is the source of human settlements through the process of urbanisation communities are disconnected from these water sources which leads to degradation. This workshop will explore (1) the concept of blue public space (2) the decolonial approach to conceptual innovation with an explanation of how this concept was developed (3) potential application beyond the Montréal context and within participants' communities.
