The City of Munich and its partners invite you to an inspiring Opening Ceremony at Munich's
iconic Olympiahalle. Get ready for an evening packed with live performances by local artists - from hip-hop beats to alphorn sounds, inspiring keynote speeches from our partners and Counsellors, and our flag bearing ceremony - proudly representing delegates from 196 countries!
The Mayor of Munich, Dieter Reiter, will officially welcome the delegates, and the MünchnerKindl, the city’s symbolic figure, will guide you through the evening. Guests from the host city partners and the public will join this celebration, making it a truly inclusive event. The Opening Ceremony will include keynotes from the Mayor of the City, Dieter Reiter, partner executives from Siemens, BMW and Deloitte, and OYW Counsellors. We will also be welcoming amazing local artists and performers, showcasing the immense creative talent Munich has to offer.

City of MunichDieter Reiter was born in 1958. He is married to Petra Reiter and has three grown-up children. He graduated from the University of Applied Sciences for Public Administration and Administration of Justice in Bavaria. After holding various positions within Munich's city administration, he was elected Mayor of Munich in 2014, a position he was re-elected to in 2020. Dieter Reiter is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany.

Previously, Elisabeth co-founded the Hamburg-based AI startup Oxolo in 2020, a pioneer in AI video production with 600,000 users and €13 million in funding. Before founding Oxolo, Elisabeth worked as a VC and CFO and was recognized by Manager Magazin as one of the 15 leading women in the field of AI in Germany. Elisabeth received the FAZ Innovation Award, the KPMG Venture Award and was included in the W&V 100. OMR named her one of the 50 leading minds in the digital industry. Elisabeth has three children and lives in Hamburg.

BMWIlka Horstmeier is a Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Human Resources, and Labour Relations Director. Following a degree in Business Administration, she started in 1995 at the BMW Group as a trainee and section manager in Human Resources and Organisational Development. Shortly thereafter, she moved to production, where she held various management functions, before becoming Senior Vice President for Production and Planning Engines and E-Powertrain in 2013. In 2018, she became head of the BMW Group Plant in Dingolfing, and since November 2019 she has been the Board Member for Human Resources. Since the beginning of her career, Horstmeier has managed numerous transformation projects and has been focused on the ability to provide operational excellence as well as sustainability. As a "people person", she enjoys the responsibility for the BMW Group’s more than 150,000 associates and their work environment. She actively shapes the transformation and stands for social responsibility due to her firm conviction that "the employees guarantee the success of the BMW Group"
