Actor, Human Rights Activist and Presenter of America's Got Talent
Author, action-movie hero, sitcom star, children’s book illustrator, advertising pitchman, playable video game character, talent show host, high-end furniture designer, and human rights activist all describe the man that is Terry Crews. The unstoppable Terry Crews’ latest role is based on long-running comic strip JumpStart. He will be starring in a lead role as well as executive producing the CBS comedy pilot. Crews released his memoir, Tough: My Journey to True Power on 26 April 2022, via Penguin Random House. In it, Crews chronicles how he went from a six-year-old boy with a goofy smile to a man who acknowledges his weaknesses and uses his experiences to motivate others. Crews is currently hosting NBC’s top-rated alternative series America’s Got Talent, now in its seventeenth season, along with spinoffs AGT Champions and AGT Extreme. Crews was named one of TIME Magazine’s 2017 “Person of the Year” as one of the “Silence Breakers,” speaking out against sexual harassment during the #MeToo movement. Terry and his wife, Rebecca King Crews, released the Audible memoir Stronger Together in 2021, sharing the ups and downs of their relationship and how they have weathered crises together. Crews added children’s book illustrator to his résumé with the augmented reality book Come Find Me, created to fill a void of books for brown boys, co-created with former NFL teammate Ken Harvey. His graphic novel Terry’s Crew, released in November, provides insight into his Michigan childhood. Off-screen, Crews dedicates his time to several non-profits including Safe Horizon, Peace Over Violence, and the Polaris Project, combating sexual harassment, domestic violence, and human trafficking. For this work, he was awarded the UN Global Generation Award and is honoured by numerous organisations.
